Dr Harris is a highly skilled consultant dermatologist and dermatological and laser surgeon specialising in acute skin rashes, problematic warts, acne & skin cancer and is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists. He has performed over 400 surgical procedures for benign and malignant lesions.
Dr Harris qualified from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1981 and began training in general internal medicine. In 1987 he started his dermatological training at The Westminster and St Stephens Hospital, London. This included three years at The Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Following his completion of training Dr Harris worked at The Royal Free Hospital and subsequently moved to the Cutaneous Surgery Center, University of Minnesota, USA, where he became the Cutaneous Surgery Fellow. His training in laser surgery, Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery and aesthetic dermatology was completed here.
In 1993 Dr Harris worked as a consultant dermatologist to the Whittington Hospital NHS Trust in London where he stayed until 2002. He set up and ran the world’s first “store and forward” teledermatology link for pigmented lesion triage and the following year established the laser unit and Mohs surgery.
In 2002 he founded the London Clinic of Dermatology at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth.
Dr Harris is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of the British Association of Dermatologists. He is also a member of the European Society of Micrographic Surgery.
Research & Teaching
Dr Harris’s research interests include dermoscopy, sequential total body scanning of pigmented lesions for the early detection of malignant melanoma, as well as laser treatment of acne scarring and keloid scarring with laser and injectables.
