Mrs Sternberg qualified from Birmingham University in 1993 and was accredited as a specialist in 1997. She has been a Consultant in Oral Surgery since 2009, working in hospitals and in private practice.
Taking her profession forward is important to Mrs Sternberg, who has served as a Regional Advisor and Training Programme Director for the Dental Foundation and an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh.
Her research into computerised tomography results and third molar surgery is valued by colleagues, as is the support she gives them, although Mrs Sternberg’s key wish is to work directly with patients.
Her skill with impacted wisdom teeth, complex, or buried roots, removal of extra teeth and of benign polyps are matched by experience of surgery on soft tissue, jaw cysts and other causes of swelling.
From problems which have proven difficult to solve, to preparatory work for orthodontic treatment, colleagues regularly refer patients, to ensure they receive the best possible care and outcomes.
Feeling comfortable with surgical treatment is equally important and an area Mrs Sternberg focuses on. Sedation for nervous patients is available, although the care Mrs Sternberg takes on pain and stress relief matters as much.
Keeping up to date also counts, for a member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, yet the extra steps Mrs Sternberg takes on every case are what truly help her patients lives.
